Growing in Grace

We are excited to begin discerning God's call for our next Rector. Grace has been without a Rector since 2021 and although we are grateful for the ministry of our interim clergy, we are looking forward to the spiritual growth that will occur with our next Rector.

We are an inclusive,  broad church community in the heart of the Summerlin North. Our neighborhood is one of the safest in the United States and is incredibly family-friendly. Next door to the church is a park with basketball courts, a grass field, playground, community center, and seasonal outdoor pool! Please visit the Summerlin website to learn more about what it is like to live here.

Our Vision

We help one another follow Jesus in the Episcopal Church through our four parish priorities:

  • Children & Youth Ministries
  • Community Engagement
  • Discipleship
  • Worship

Who We Are

Grace is a loving, persevering community of disciples. We have weathered a lot of storms together in our 36 years. We include people from all walks of life and enjoy gathering together for worship and fellowship. We love our children & youth and are making changes to incorporate them in the worship life of the church. As with most communities of faith, we put on a great hospitality spread! We are ready to engage with our new Rector on creating a five year plan to move from a Transition size parish to a stable Program size one. You can learn more about us by looking through our Congregational Assessment results, as well as reading our Office of Transition Ministry information.

Who We Are Looking For

It is important to us to have a leader who loves us as we are and can guide us to grow into who God is calling us to be. Experience with and a passion for children & youth ministry is necessary to support our growing number of families. We want our Rector to be solidly grounded in the theology and ethos of the Episcopal Church and well-versed in our Constitution, Canons, governance, and best business practices. We are a politically purple parish - and not because we're moderate! We need a Rector who will proclaim the Good News of Jesus and help us advocate for social policies grounded in our faith. Differing politics is just one example of how conflict enters our community. As a Transition size parish, we are regularly between the tension of "how we've always done it" and "what is best for the future." We would like a Rector who can assist in resolving conflict and alleviating destructive tension.

Our Finances

We are a generous parish and we are learning how to be good stewards of God's blessings.  Our external audit revealed the need to develop sound financial policies and procedures, which we are working on. There were no monetary findings in the audit because we have a team of finance ministers that diligently care for our financial health. We have begun growing our Capital Improvement fund in order to cover Deferred Maintenance expenses. In the future, we would like to create an investment fund.

We have created a five year financial  document so that you can see where we have been, where we are now, and what we anticipate in the short-term future. As of April 2025, our year-to-date income is up 34% over budget and our ytd expenses are 8% below budget.

How to Apply

Almighty and ever living God, help us to do the preparation work to call our next rector with joy and love. Deepen our relationships so that we may know what is the hope of your calling for Grace in the Desert through Christ Jesus; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
